Why does the map show an anomaly of 0.68 for August while the data-file shows 0.7?
ReplyDeleteSRJ
Interesting question. The file said 0.7, as WUWT also reported here. It still does, and their pic still says 0.68.
DeleteData is still coming in, and I assume the pic was made at a different time from the file entry.
.
The 250 km map shos 0.66. It's also possible that the map numbers are from averaging the cells as shown on the map, while the file average does something different.
DeleteThis is an FAQ. Search for "number in the right hand corner" on the GISTEMP FAQ: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/FAQ.html
DeleteDJ,
DeleteThanks. It seems they do do something ifferent, and file number is considered better.
