TempLS global temp down 0.017°C in September

TempLS cooled slightly; from 0.615°C (July) to 0.598°C. That is still quite high, following the previous rise of about 0.1°C. Anomaly base is 1961-90. For the satellite indices, MSU rose slightly, and UAH quite a lot, from 0.19°C to 0.29°C.

GHCN had ups and downs lately. For a few days, almost all the land data for August except USA vanished. In Sept, China data has only just arrived. I think everything is OK now.
Here is the spherical harmonics plot:

Warm in Antarctica, around Paraguay and Algeria. Cool in mid-Russia.
4273 stations reported. Here is the map:

FYI, "MSU" is the name (or acronym) for an instrument on the NOAA POES satellites. UAH and RSS are two groups using that instrument to produce temperature data for the lower troposphere.

    1. Yes, thanks. I try to say MSU-RSS, but sometimes I lapse.
