TempLS cooled slightly; from 0.615°C (July) to
0.598°C. That is still quite high, following the previous rise of about 0.1°C. Anomaly base is 1961-90. For the satellite indices, MSU rose slightly, and UAH quite a lot, from 0.19°C to 0.29°C.
GHCN had ups and downs lately. For a few days, almost all the land data for August except USA vanished. In Sept, China data has only just arrived. I think everything is OK now.
Here is the spherical harmonics plot:
Warm in Antarctica, around Paraguay and Algeria. Cool in mid-Russia.
4273 stations reported. Here is the map:
For the satellite indices, MSU rose slightly, and UAH quite a lot, from 0.19°C to 0.29°C.
ReplyDeleteFYI, "MSU" is the name (or acronym) for an instrument on the NOAA POES satellites. UAH and RSS are two groups using that instrument to produce temperature data for the lower troposphere.
